Go central- This Autumn it’s all about the central parting! Seen all over Stella Mc Cartney, Valentino and Balmain catwalks a central parting is an on trend look that you can’t go wrong with in 2014! To re create the just stepped off the catwalk look, keep hair looking perfect all day long with Elnett Supreme Hold Hair Spray, offering your hair style long lasting hold with a brilliant shine and a soft touch!

Colour change- This rich strawberry-blonde-come-auburn hair hue is to-dye-for. It looks great on porcelain skin tones and against green and blue eyes! If you decided to go lighter with your hair this summer, this subtle change will leave you bang on trend for the autumn months! Top Tip: You need to treat coloured hair with care, use a treatment once a weeksuch as Kérastase Elixir Ultime, a versatile nourishing oil that provides ultimate shine, softness and nourishment.

Blunt cut- Marc Jacobs introduced us to this fantastic look for autumn 2014. This cut is versatile as it looks great on long hair and also cut into a bob, you can also add an on trend fringe to add a funky twist to the look!  A blunt cut can be somewhat hard to maintain, using a serum is the perfect option to keep split ends at bay! The Ultimate Remedy Serum is a leave in cream which works to control frizz, hydrate and deeply nourish the hair leaving your locks feeling super shiny, soft and supple with a healthy radiance!

This autumn whether you choose a subtle change such as a center parting or  you feel  like a change such as an on trend blunt fringe make sure to pop into Hessions and one of our expert team members will look after all your hair care needs!

Party season hairstyles from Hession

As the end of the year approaches one thing is for sure…Christmas and the party season is almost upon us!  Recently Hession hairdressing hosted a glam event to showcase some of the hottest hairstyles for Christmas and the holiday season. All our guests sipped on chilled bubbly and enjoyed delicious cake pops!

 First up is a plaited up do with a twist!

This is definitely one best left to the professionals, unless you are extremely talented! It features a side parting with braids running along the both side of the parting and then merging into an intertwined plait and braids along the hairline to frame the face.

#gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ Plaited up do with a twist! Paul Hession creates this complex braided style Braided style with Paul Hession Paul Hession with the final look braided upstyle

As you can see here is Paul Hession himself working alongside a member of Team Hession on this complex style.

At the nape of the neck the remaining hair is gathered into a low ponytail and the lengths are crimped to add texture and a thoroughly modern feel.

Next up is a fishtail plait with a difference #gallery-2 { margin: auto; } #gallery-2 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-2 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-2 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ Detailed study of the back of the fishtail look Fishtail plait with a difference

In order to give this look a more sophisticated party look the top section of the hair was style into a number of twists which gave high glam lift and volume at the crown and then continued down to the nape of the neck where the fishtail plait begins.

For anyone with a shorter style: #gallery-3 { margin: auto; } #gallery-3 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-3 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-3 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ Volume pixie cut

This pixie cut was blow dried smooth with lots of volume on top.  It was all brushed forwards and was then lightly tousled and set with hairspray.

 Volumised and texturised side bun

To create this dramatic look the lengths of the hair were crimpled to add texture. Next the whole head was gently backcombed section by section to add volume. Then a side parting was made and the hair was gently smoothed over, taking care not to loose the volume and tied in a low side ponytail. The hair was then pinned section by section back onto the head creating a loose bun effect. The idea is not to be too perfect…a little messy adds to the look!

#gallery-4 { margin: auto; } #gallery-4 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-4 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-4 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ Volumised and texturised side bun

Bridal Make-Up Tutorial with Emma Farrell

You’ll see we recently posted a new Bridal make-up tutorial on with the super Emma Farrell and thought you might like to have a step by step guide to follow and accompany the video!

Bridal Look by Emma Farrell Make Up

Starting with the eyes: Use Pebbles Eyeshadow  as a base, with Urban Eyeshadow all over the lid. Clubbing Eyeshadow adds the perfect pop of sparkle on the centre of the eyelid. Heffner Eyeshadow for extra definition along with perfection eyeshadow on the inner corner of the eye and underneath the brow bone.

Use the gel Black Eyeliner along the lash line, flicking your line upwards and outwards to lift and elongate the eye. To make your eyes appear nice and large Emma recommends using the White Eyeliner Pencil on the waterline to open them up.

Apply a gorgeous set of natural yet fluffy false eyelashes to really set off the look, also applying mascara on over the lashes as it helps to bind the natural lash to the artificial one and gives a much cleaner and more natural look to the lashes.

Face: Once you have finished the eyes clean up underneath the eyes to remove any fall-out from the eyeshadow. This is Emma’s top tip for wedding make-up as the camera picks up everything!

Use the BUFF Camera Ready Primer to smooth out the skin and prepare it for the base. Apply HD Foundation in light motions with a brush. If you buff this into the skin well it gives the appearance of an airbrush finish. Once you have applied the foundation conceal underneath the eyes and any blemishes and to set your flawless face, a light dusting of the BUFF Dual Powder is recommended.

Contour the cheeks, jaw and nose for a slimming look. The flash from the camera can leave your face looking very flat, so this step is not to be skipped for Bridal Make-up! Highlight above the cheek bones with the Mineral Icing Sugar, this gives a gorgeous dewy glow. Don’t forget your Melba blusher for a fresh hint of colour.

Lips: Finish the look off with a gorgeous natural pink lip look, Emma pencilled in the outline and centre of the lips with lip liner then applied BUFF Nibble Lip-gloss which is perfect on most skin tones.

If you try this look yourself we would love to hear from you and how you get on.

Top Tips for Extensions Care

We regularly suffer from hair envy as we look at long, luscious celebrity tresses, silky smooth, glossy and not a split end in sight! Well we can all feel that bit better in knowing many of them fake it! Everyone from Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson to Britney Spears and Selina Gomez are all sporting hair extensions on a daily basis. Hair extensions, clip in extensions, hair pieces have all become the must have accessory to change your look in an instant. They are used not only for added length but also by people with fine hair to add thickness and volume to their hair.

Professionally attached extensions are the options chosen by celebrities to get the looks we all want to attain. If you seek out an experienced hair extensionist you will be able to get the looks you really want, here at Hession Hairdressing we use Great Lengths Hair Extensions.  Superior quality, this 100% real human hair is 100% ethical and 100% traceable! With celebrity users including Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, Demi Lovato and Kate Beckinsale it’s nice to know you can avail of Hollywood glamour and celebrity tresses!

TOP TIPS:

Do not shampoo for two days after your Great Lengths application. When shampooing, always wash your hair with your head back, not tilted forward. Never dry with a scrubbing action, instead wrap a towel to absorb the excess moisture. When allowing your hair to “air dry,” Great Lengths recommends that the attachment sites be dried with a blow dryer to prevent the bonds from remaining wet for an extended period of time. Always use the Great Lengths Anti-tap Formula after every wet treatment.  The Anti-tap Formula is designed to neutralize irregularities in your water source and/or to protect the keratin bond polymers from chlorine, saltwater and other solutions not compatible with a proper pH. To prevent premature bond breakdown always saturate your hair with water and apply Great Lengths Anti-tap Formula prior to swimming, exercising, using a sauna or any activity that creates moisture in your hair for an extended period of time. Immediately after such activities, shampoo thoroughly, condition, apply the Anti-tap Formula and blow-dry the bonds. Brush your hair three times a day with the recommended Great Lengths brush. Unlike many extension systems, regular and thorough brushing is recommended for Great Lengths extensions. Beginning at the nape, brush row by row, scalp to ends. Always pull your hair into a soft ponytail while sleeping as it will prevent tangling
